Plain answers
Questions people actually ask before rehoming
No vague shell copy — this page explains what happens, what we check, what we do not keep, and where local Perth, Wanneroo and WA responsibility sits.
Before listing a pet
Is rehoming free?
Yes. Pet listings and genuine rehoming support stay free. We charge only for optional verification, products, services or business marketplace activity.
Do I send Perth Safe Pet my licence or passport?
No. Do not email identity documents. Identity checks are handled through secure verification so Perth Safe Pet does not need to retain copies of your ID.
Do puppies need a breeder registration number in WA?
Yes. WA puppy advertisements require a breeder registration number issued by the relevant local council. We will not publish a puppy listing without it.
Choosing the right home
Can I ask lots of questions?
Yes. That is the point. A good adopter will understand questions about routine, fencing, children, other pets, vet care and time alone.
What if something feels off?
Pause. You are never required to proceed because someone has enquired. The animal’s welfare comes before speed.
Does Perth Safe Pet approve the final home?
For courtesy listings, the rescue, carer or owner makes the final decision. Perth Safe Pet helps with structure, visibility, records and safer handover paperwork.
Payments, products and records
What is the marketplace for?
Local pet businesses can sell useful products and services — dog beds, cat toys, grooming, washing, sitting, training and holiday care — with clear seller responsibility.
Who is responsible if a product or service goes wrong?
The seller remains responsible for what they advertise and fulfil. Perth Safe Pet provides the marketplace structure, agreement record and support pathway.
What does the Sovereign record do?
It seals the agreed handover details into a tamper-evident verification record so both sides can later prove what was disclosed and accepted.
