What the certificate means
What is signed, what is verified, what isn't
What is signed
The fingerprint (hash) of the handover record: the parties' pseudonymous identifiers, the animal's declared details, the date, and the agreement text as it stood at the moment of sealing. The document itself stays private — only its fingerprint is signed and chained.
What can be independently verified
That a record with that exact fingerprint existed at that time, that it was signed by Perth Safe Pet's key, and that it has not been altered, removed or reordered since. Anyone can check this from the public head hash, including offline.
What stays self-declared
Everything the people involved told us: microchip and vaccination numbers, breed, age, temperament, and the reason for rehoming. Sealing a claim proves the claim was made and never changed — it does not prove the claim is true.
What the certificate does not prove
It is not a health, temperament or ownership guarantee, not a government or registry record, not proof of identity, and not proof that money changed hands or that the animal was handed over. It is not legal advice or a warranty on the animal.
