To Start with, all our staff in this division loves cats! We are highly trained and we know how to handle grooming of a cat properly. We don’t use any sedation for your pets and they are groomed in your presence. That way, they remain calm and the grooming proceeds happily for all parties. Subsequently, we, at all times consider keeping your pet at their comfort level only. We have strict adherence to the policy that under all circumstances, pets should not get hurt in any way as long as they are under our care.
We have had a lot of success clipping cats without any medication and we know it is much better for the cat in due course and we are in favor of grooming cats minus sedation whenever possible. However there are times when mat needs to be removed and it is advisable to sedate your cat only for that part of the service. For such times, we call in the local vet and he or she administers the sedation. As soon as your cat is sedated, we will at that point do the clipping and then after bathe the cat. After bath, the vet is called again to reverse the sedation. For such a service, expenses need to be covered for both the salon and the vet.
Clipping can be very tricky if the cat is not sedated, however, we do follow a certain method, that is, we do a ventral clipping. Whatever the type of clipping, we always take into consideration your preferences first. That is when we clip the belly and rear and keep them very short. At that point we begin the area under armpits, continuing along the tummy area, inside of hind legs and finally, we stop further down the tail. Then what we do is called the lion slipping wherein all fur is clipped with the exception of the head, paws and tail. After the clipping and trimming, we give the cat a bath followed by a nice and fresh blow dry.
Mats can restrict blood flow for the skin and as a result, skin will weaken if the Mats are permitted to be on the coat for a long time. All Mats need to be clipped short. Unlike dogs, wherein we can use brush or scissors to thin the matt, for cats it can cause bruising which is also very painful for the cat. That’s why we need to clip the Mats out.
Since we are in this business for a very long time, we know that a soothing bath with shampoo and conditioner should be done before we treat fleas. That way the skin is not irritated. Our flea treatment lasts between 8-10 hours so this precious time is to be used by you to consider checking in with your local vet for a permanent solution on fleas.
We take utmost care to only provide professional and comforting services to all our clients and you don’t have to worry as your pets are safe at Safepet!
